– Quinnipiac men's lacrosse earned its fifth-straight victory on Saturday, topping St. Bonaventure 12-7 in MAAC play from the QU Lacrosse Stadium in Hamden. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 5-3 (2-0 MAAC) so far in 2019. Senior Foster Cuomo led the way with three goals and one assist for four total points, while Jake Tomik added two goals and one helper for three points. The Bobcats attempted a season-high 64 shots in the win, which is the highest shot total of any MAAC team so far this year. It's must-win time for us if you look at our schedule, and we did a good job putting pressure on their defense early and often. We had a lot of guys contribute today in many different ways. We'll enjoy this, and then move our attention to a tough Siena opponent next week." HIGHLIGHTS The Bobcats outshot St. Bonaventure 64-28, and won 18-of-23 face-offs. Quinnipiac picked up 23 ground balls, and was a perfect 22-for-22 in clears. Foster Cuomo led the way offensively with three goals and one helper, giving him 13 goals and four assists for 17 total points over just four games. Jake Tomsik added two goals and one assist, and now has a team-best 24 goals and 33 points this season. Senior Mike Fletcher and freshman Will Abbott each scored twice, while Tyler MacKay, Brett DiSalvo and Hunter Fasanaro each chipped in with a goal of their own. Freshman goalkeeper Nick DiMuccio made eight more saves in the win, improving to 5-3 this year. NOTES The Bobcats have now won five-straight contests, which the program also did to close out the 2018 regular season. Cuomo has now scored 3+ goals in each of his first three games this year for Quinnipiac. Tomsik has now recorded 3+ points in seven of eight contests. Fletcher has multipe goals in each of his three appearances this season. Abbott has two goals in five separate games during his first collegiate season. Fasanaro's goal is his second of the season, as he also scored at NJIT on March 2. NEXT UP Quinnipiac is back in action on Saturday, March 30, traveling to Siena for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
