The University of Montevallo mens lacrosse team returned to Motown after claiming victory in snowy Mars Hill, NC. The Falcons faced the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles in a defensive battle leading to 13-6 win for Montevallo. Jackson Neufeld scored four goals for the Falcons, along with Scott Friant, Connor Frederick, and Anthony Pecoraro who all added two goals each. Ryan Shea, Andru Ross and GLVC Offensive Player of the Week Thomas Vaesen also contributed a goal a piece. UM's defense turned in an excellent performance holding the Eagles to 1-4 extra man opportunities along with 33 forced turnovers which ultimately led to the success. Colin Jeffery caused four of those turnovers and picked up six ground balls, which was the game high for both categories. Dylan Witt trailed him with three caused turnovers along with Andru Ross who caused two himself. Scott Friant, Dante Cloutier, Connor Frederick, Kyle Little, Anthony Pecoraro, Justin Greene, Spencer Seiler Danny Grattan and Thomas Vaesen each caused one turnover. Head coach Jason Lange spoke on the teams execution, "Great team win, offensively we did a good job of playing unselfish and sharing the ball. On defense I felt like we executed the game plan and it showed, very proud of our guys." NEXT UP: The Falcons now turn their attention to the first GLVC conference game of the seaason against Lewis University on Saturday February 22 at noon.
