ALBANY, N.Y. – Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) recorded five points apiece in the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team's 12-11 road loss to the University at Albany at Casey Stadium. Blanding tallied three goals and two assists to finish with personal bests in both assists and points. Sexton scored twice and had a season-high three assists. Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.; one goal, two assists) and Julia Neyland (Boxborough, Mass.; two goals) also recorded multiple points. Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) was credited with five saves and game- and career-high four ground balls. Caroline Hernon (Hampton, N.H.) contributed a team-high six draw controls and one ground ball. UAlbany, which lost a 6-1 halftime lead but scored the last three goals of the game – including the game-winning goal with 15 seconds remaining, was led offensively by Madison Conway (4g, 4a), Hailey Carroll (4g) and Kendra Harbinger (1g, 2a). Georgia Schneidereith made 11 saves. UNH, which entered the game on a four-game winning streak, is now 8-4 overall and 3-1 in America East. UAlbany won its third consecutive game to improve to 8-5, 4-0. UP NEXT UNH returns to action April 9 at home against Boston University. The game – UNH's last non-conference game of the regular season – begins at 4 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. FIRST HALF Conway scored the first two goals of the game 73 seconds apart – at 23:49 and 22:36 – to give the home team a 2-0 lead. Kyla Zapolski sandwiched a pair of goals around a tally by Carroll to extend UAlbany's lead to 5-0 at 11:08. Blanding netted an unassisted goal at 7:14 to put UNH into the scoring column. Conway struck again with 30 seconds on the clock to send the Great Danes into halftime with a 6-1 lead. SECOND HALF New Hampshire struck quickly in the second half when Sexton finished Leonard's feed for a goal at 28:31. UAlbany reestablished a five-goal lead, 7-2, on Carroll's second strike of the game at 25:33. UNH reeled off four consecutive goals to close within one goal. Sexton ignited the rally with an unassisted goal at 24:41, then set up Neyland's goal at 21:37 to make it 7-4. Leonard was credited with her second assist of the day on Blanding's goal at 19:11, then Sexton's second assist set up Teagan Northrup (Longmeadow, Mass.) at 18:03 to trim the deficit to 7-6. Carroll scored back-to-back goals 33 seconds apart – at 14:58 and 14:25 – to push the cushion to 9-6. Undeterred, the Wildcats scored five consecutive goals to surge ahead, 11-9. Devan Miller (Bristol, R.I.) started the spurt with an unassisted goal at 13:00 that was followed 57 seconds later by Leonard. And 57 seconds after Leonard's goal, Neyland netted her second of the game at 12:03 to tie the score at 9. Blanding set up both of those tallies. Mickenzie Larivee (Amherst, N.H.), with the assistance of Sexton, gave UNH its first lead of the game, 10-9, at 8:37. Less than a minute later, Blanding's third goal – this time on a free position – extended the Wildcats' advantage to 11-9 at 7:41. That would prove to be New Hampshire's last goal of the game, however. UAlbany won the ensuing draw control, and that led directly to Harbinger's free-position goal at 6:44. Torres denied Sam Tortora at 5:27 and again at 2:21 to preserve the Wildcats' one-goal lead. UNH called a timeout with 2:09 remaining, but lost possession less than 10 seconds later. The Great Danes capitalized on that turnover and tied the score, 11-11, on Julia Imbo's goal with 52 seconds on the clock. Zapolski controlled the draw and Conway tallied her eighth point of the game – on her fourth goal – to put UAlbany back in front, 12-11, with 15 seconds remaining. Zapolski once again won the draw control – her eighth of the game – to secure the Great Danes' win. UNH NOTEBOOK New Hampshire is 5-3 on the road, and the five road wins are the most since the 2009 squad went 5-4 in road games. Leonard extended her point streak to 11 games and assist streak to six. Sexton has scored a goal all 12 games this season. Larivee's goal and point streaks are at five games. INSIDE THE NUMBERS New Hampshire recorded the slimmest of advantages in shots (27-26). UAlbany had the edge in both ground balls (13-9) and draw controls (13-12). The turnovers were even at 11. Both teams scored on 1 of 3 free-position shots. The Great Danes were a perfect 15-for-15 on clear attempts, while UNH was 15 of 17. SERIES NOTEBOOK UNH has an 11-13 lifetime record against UAlbany, and the Great Danes have won each of the past 12 matchups.
