Rockville Centre, N.Y. - In a contest that was tied on seven separate occasions, the men's lacrosse team picked up its first victory of the 2020 campaign, besting Southern New Hampshire University, 13-11. Molloy improved to 1-4 with the win while SNHU fell to 0-2. How it Happened Through the opening half of play, the team's would exchange goals with neither team able to string together consecutive markers. The Lions struck first off the stick of junior Jack Egan five minutes into the contest. After 15 minutes of play, the score was knotted, 3-3. Molloy and Egan struck first once again in the second quarter, with the junior netting his third goal of the game. After 30 minutes of play, the game remained tied, 7-7. Senior Kevin Pastier broke the tie off a feed from freshman Sean Plasencia in the opening minute of the third quarter. Egan added his fifth goal of the afternoon to give the Lions its first two-goal advantage, 9-7, with 11 minutes left in the frame. Plasencia netted a goal of his own to end the third quarter, setting the score at 10-9 headed into the final 15 minutes of action. The Penmen would strike first, tying the contest, 10-10, in the first 20 seconds, but the maroon and white rallied to score three-straight goals to take a 13-10 lead. SNHU threatened to bridge the gap in the final two minutes, but the Lions defense held strong, picking up the 13-11 victory. Top Performances Egan topped the scoresheet with six points on a career-high five goals and one assist while adding one ground ball. Plasencia added four points on two goals and two assists while Pastier tallied two goals and one assist for three points. Seniors Colin Kotarski and Jeff Hauser as well as juniors Darryl Hilaire and Nick Del Giorno added goals in the effort while senior Brandon Leon and sophomores Richie Polizzi Jr. and Brian Ford recorded assists. Senior Travis Cooksey topped the Lions with five ground balls while winning two face-offs. Freshman Thomas Mauro led with five face-off wins. Hilaire forced three turnovers while Leon and sophomore Jordan Arbouet each caused two. Sophomore James O'Grady made 15 saves in net.
