HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's lacrosse continued its balanced scoring attack in a 18-9 win Tuesday afternoon against non-conference UConn at Scully-Fahey Field. The Big Green (7-3) pushed their win streak to six games with the result, while handing the Huskies (2-10) their second straight defeat. In total, 10 different goal scorers found the back of the net for the home team, setting a new season high. Dartmouth had previously had four games where eight players recorded markers. "This was an inspiring team win," head coach Danielle Spencer said. "Our defense worked well together to dictate the pace of play, and our offense flowed together as a unit. Congratulations to our players." Junior Katie Bourque had a game-high four goals and finished with five points. Elizabeth Mastrio scored three times and matched her season high with three assists for six points. Mastrio had previously reached six points in a game four times over her first three seasons before Tuesday's efforts. Kierra Sweeney, Michelle Yu and Sophia Turchetta all scored twice in the second win in three all-time meetings against UConn for the Green and White. Scoring once were Schuyler Bixby, Adrie Luster, Campbell Brewer, Ellie Carson and Kathryn Giroux. For Luster, the late goal was the first of her collegiate career, while Yu's scores were her first two of 2019. Giroux picked up 11 draw controls in the game, moving over 350 for career (351), and just two shy(353) of 14th all-time in NCAA history. Thanks to her five points, Bourque now has 90 for her career (65-25-90), while Mastrio is now within six draw controls of 100. The current Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, Dartmouth goalkeeper Kiera Vrindten, made seven saves in 52 minutes of action before Katie Forman and Charlotte Wahle combined to finish the game in the circle. The Huskies' Grace Beshlian stopped 13 shots from the Big Green as the home team held a 31-18 edge in shots on goal. Sam McKenna scored three times for the visitors, while Caitlin Leary had a pair in the loss. Princeton comes to Hanover on Saturday for a big Ivy League game between a pair of unbeaten conference foes. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
