The No. 9 University of Denver women's lacrosse team fell to No. 20 Michigan 12-10 on Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers move to 4-1 on the year, while the Wolverines remain undefeated at 6-0. Carson Gregg led the Crimson and Gold with eight saves off Michigan's 20 shots on goal. "I'm proud of how we fought today," Denver Head Coach Liza Kelly said. "Michigan is a good team and they played hard. We're excited to have another good team [Vanderbilt] coming in this weekend." Pioneer Performers: Bea Behrins led the Pioneer offense with her third hat trick in five games, totaling three goals on three shots, winning three draw controls and going 1-2 on the free position attempts. The other contributors to Denver's ten goals came from Quintin Hoch-Bullen (two), and Elizabeth Behrins, Julia Feiss, Eliza Radochonski, Caroline Wiseman and Hannah Liddy, who each tallied one. Maddie Baum recorded five draw controls, followed by Molly Little and Bea Behrins, who each tallied three. Defense In Full Force: The DU defense was put to work as 11 Pioneers totaled at least one caused turnover. Behrins and Hoch-Bullen led with two apiece. Gregg accumulated a team-high five ground balls, followed by senior Kennedy Milburn who tallied two. Gregg The Great: Gregg spent 56-minutes in net for the Pioneers on Tuesday, totaling eight saves. She leads the team with 37 total saves in five games after entering Tuesday's contest ranked No. 2 in the NCAA with a 4.92 goals against average. Team Numbers: Denver totaled 21 shots, nine ground balls, 13 draw controls, eight saves, 13 turnovers and went 16-18 on clears. Michigan totaled 33 total shots, 16 ground balls, 11 draw controls, four saves, nine turnovers and a 16-19 success rate on clears.
