CSU scored 10 consecutive goals to begin the game over the opening 19 minutes and led by at least eight goals for the final three quarters. Freshman Andrew Hamilton helped the Vikings dominate possession as he went 17-for-21 on faceoffs with 12 ground balls. Both the faceoffs won and GB's were season highs for the rookie, who also scored his second goal of the season. Sophomore Tristan Hanna led the offensive onslaught with a game-high and career-high six points, including a career-best three assists. It was his sixth hat trick in the last 10 games and his first multi-assist game of the season. Junior Nick Wendel added four points, including a career-high three assists. It was his third straight game with at least three points. He now has points in eight straight and has scored in five games running. After scoring his first goal of the season last time out, junior Sherwin Gersten posted his first career hat trick Saturday. After an empty possession by each team to begin the game, Cleveland State scored on four straight possessions to take an early lead, with juniors Tristen Copeland, Jared Stepka, Hanna and freshman Zack Kasson finding the net. Copeland, Wendel, Kasson and Gersten added one tally each before the end of the first quarter to give CSU an eight-goal lead after 15 minutes. Stepka and Hanna pushed the margin to double digits early in the second quarter before the Bonnies scored twice just after five minutes had elapsed in the quarter to get on the board. Gersten and Hamilton got those two goals back in under a minute to extend the margin back to double figures, where it stood at the half. Cleveland State led by at least nine for the entire second half before pushing the margin to 13 in the closing stages. Copeland and Kasson each set season highs with three points. It was Kasson's second straight multi-point game in his first career start. Junior Jared Stepka had his second multi-goal game of the season, freshman Adam Clark had his fourth multi-point game and sophomore Derek Radke had a season-best two assists. Juniors Gideon Brockenbrough and Carter Jensen and freshman Ryan Haigh also scored for the Vikings. It was Jensen's first collegiate tally. Junior Nate Menendez, sophomore Jason Sullivan and freshman Gabe Reno each posted an assist Saturday, part of a record-setting 14-assist effort from the hosts. Sullivan now has an assist in each of the last half dozen contests. Thirty seven Vikings saw action in the contest, including two—Cole Anderson and Jacob Humphreys—who made their collegiate debuts. Anderson went 4-for-5 on faceoffs with three ground balls. The win was the sixth of the season for the Vikings, the highest figure to date for the young program. Cleveland State will return to action next weekend as it welcomes Robert Morris Saturday, April 13.
