The Harvard men's lacrosse team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 19-11 home loss to No. 12/10 Cornell. The Crimson was paced by four-point afternoons from junior Kyle Anderson and sophomore Myles Hamm. The game was an evenly played affair through the first 15 minutes as the teams traded goals. Cornell's Jake McCulloch scored right out the gate, reaching the goal column on the stat sheet just 53 seconds into game. First-year Austin Madronic leveled the score almost six minutes later, with Anderson providing Harvard's other two goals in the frame. After alternating goals throughout the period, the Crimson trailed the Big Red (7-3; 2-2 Ivy), 4-3, after one quarter. Harvard (5-5; 1-2 Ivy) had the game slip away from them in second stanza despite keeping Cornell off the scoreboard for the first 4:56. The Big Red tickled the twine on a Jeff Teat shot with 10:06 on the clock, which led to two more goals. All three Cornell strikes came in a 2-minute, 53-second span. Hamm stopped the Big Red run with his first goal of the afternoon as the clock dipped under 5:00, but Cornell got one more goal right before halftime to lead, 8-4. The Big Red opened the second half much like the first, with a quick goal, this time from Colton Rupp. Junior Nigel Andrews answered with an unassisted goal to help Harvard trim its deficit to four, but that would be as close as the hosts would get the rest of the way. Anderson secured his hat trick with 10:14 left in the third quarter and Jeremy Magno added a goal, but Harvard wound up being outscored, 5-3, in the quarter to make it a 13-7 game after 45 minutes of action. In the fourth period, Harvard could not get going offensively, scoring just once, on a Hamm strike, in the first 12-plus minutes. Conversely, Cornell found the back of the net six times. The Crimson, however, closed the final 2:58 with Hamm's third goal of the day, Larsen Bidstrup's first career goal and Nick Loring's sixth of the season, providing the final margin. Harvard Highlights Anderson posted his second straight hat trick and fourth of 2019. He has 10 hat tricks in his career and is currently on a 22-game point-scoring streak. Hamm recorded his second consecutive game with at least three goals. He has three hat tricks this season and in his career. Hamm has scored in nine straight games, which is the second-longest active streak on the team, trailing only Anderson (10). Magno has 10 goals over his last four games and has scored in five consecutive outings, tallying 11 goals and two assists. Kyle Mullin was credited with 13 saves, marking the ninth time in 10 games this season in which he has had at least that many stops.
