Dartmouth men's lacrosse dropped its final road game of the 2019 season Saturday at No. 5 Penn, 22-6. Ben Martin had a pair of goals and two assists for a total of four points to lead the team, while Matt Paul and George Prince had two points each. In net, all three goalies saw playing time. George Christopher played the first 22 minutes and made two saves while being saddled with the loss. Daniel Hincks had 15 saves in 31 minutes and Alex Burnley stopped two in a six-minute span. "Today, I give Penn credit," head coach Brendan Callahan said. "I thought they played well and took the fight out of us. The difference today was at the faceoff X. Penn has a good offense and they got to play "make it, take it" lacrosse, winning faceoff after faceoff. I thought Prince and Martin made some plays for our offense when we had the ball. Our goalies stood tall in the face of some heavy pressure." Prince got Dartmouth (2-10, 0-5) on the board first less than two minutes into the first quarter, but Penn (8-3, 6-0) responded with five straight over the course of eight minutes to take a 5-1 advantage into the second. The teams traded goals in the first three minutes of the second quarter, with Big Green tallies being scored by Martin and Jack Richardson. From there, the Quakers netted five unanswered tallies, but Trevor Ballantyne's second of the year broke up their rally. Penn scored once more before the end of the first half (12-4). The home team would net a pair of goals within the first 50 seconds of the third quarter before Martin scored his second of the game. The Green kept fighting, but were unable to keep Penn out of the net, which went on to score five more tallies before the end of the quarter (19-5). Even though Dartmouth only scored one goal in the the fourth, it was the Green's best quarter, as they barely trailed in shots, 11-10, and only allowed the Quakers to score three times. After two Penn goals, Prince found the back of the net in the final five minutes. The home team got one more marker before the final whistle. The Big Green will close out the year next Saturday at Scully-Fahey Field against Brown. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
