AMHERST, Mass. - Kiley Anderson set a new program record with nine goals to lead the UMass women's lacrosse team to a 19-13 win over Connecticut on Saturday afternoon at Garber Field. The redshirt senior added an assist to her career-best goal performance to tie the program's record for points in a game as the Minutewomen improved to 2-2 on the year. Massachusetts improved to 11-3 all-time against the Huskies and have won seven consecutive meetings after Saturday's effort. Along with her nine goals and 10 points, Anderson also won seven draw controls which tied for the game-high with Cassidy Doster. A major reason for Anderson's scoring was the seven assists provided by Kaitlyn Cerasi which tied the program's single-game record as well. The junior attack finished the game with two goals and nine points. Stephanie Croke posted a four-point day with two goals and two assists, while Emma Dotsikas and Hannah Palau each had two goals as well. UConn (0-5) was led by four goals from Caitlin O'Leary and three goals from both Sydney Watson and Brooke Jensen. Gina Carroll picked up the win for UMass in goal making nine saves, while her UConn counterpart Grace Breshlian made 15 saves in the loss. The Minutewomen used three three-goal runs in the first half to build out an 11-5 lead at halftime. Five of Anderson's goal came in the opening stanza after UMass held a 29-to-15 shot advantage and won 11-of-17 draws. After Ally Murphy scored to open the second half, the Huskies notched three straight to cut the Minutewomen's lead to 12-8 at the 21:24 mark. But a four-goal run by UMass with two goals from Anderson, one from Croke and one from Cerasi stretched the lead back to eight at the midway point of the second half. UMass pushed the lead to 19-9 after two more goals from Anderson and another from Palau, but UConn closed the game with four consecutive scores. Overall, the Minutewomen held a 44-to-36 advantage in shots and won 23-of-33 draw controls. Massachusetts will return to action on Wednesday, March 6 against Marist at Garber Field (3 PM).
