The Bulldogs fell to the Louisville Cardinals, 15-5, Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Cardinals move to 2-5. Butler falls to 2-4 on the season. Louisville scored early and often in the first half to take a 10-3 lead into halftime. The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Butler's Layla Tattersfield broke up the run to score her third goal of the season off an assist from Madeline Hooks. Louisville would take a 9-1 lead before Butler would score again, this time Ashely Guerra finished a man-up opportunity for the Bulldogs. Tattersfield notched Butler's third goal of the half with a minute to go, off an assist from Ashley Steffes. The second half saw a goal early with the Cardinals scoring just 37 seconds in to take an 11-3 lead. The next goal was not scored until the 13 minute mark with Louisville's Alex McNicholas finding the back of the net. Louisville would score one more before Haley Hallenbeck scored a free position shot with five minutes to play. Karina Latsko followed Hallenbeck's goal just a minute later, tallying her 13th of the season. Louisville scored two late goals to take the 15-5 victory. Louisville outshot the Bulldogs 40 to 14, including a 21 to 9 clip in the first half. The Cardinals also held the advantage in draw controls with 15 compared to five by Butler. McNicholas and Tessa Chad led Louisville with four and three goals, respectively. Two Cardinals split the game in goal with Rachel Florek making the start and receiving the win. She made four saves on the day. Lexie Ball went in to start the second half and made two saves. Tattersfield notched two goals for the Bulldogs, while Guerra, Latsko and Hallenbeck each added one. Amanda Rumsey made the start in goal, receiving the loss and allowing 13 goals on 11 saves. She is now 2-4 on the season. Freshman Katie McGrath entered the game with 12 minutes to play, making 5 saves and allowing two goals. The Bulldogs are back in action on March 10, heading southeast for spring break. Butler will take on Gardner-Webb on the 10th, Wofford on March 13, and Furman on March 15.
