The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team opened up Great Lakes Valley Conference on play on Saturday, falling to Indianapolis 18-8 at Charger Park. The Chargers slip to 1-5 (0-1 GLVC), while the Greyhounds improve to 6-1 (2-0 GLVC). Turning Point -After the Chargers had pulled within five, UIndy went on a 5-0 run to take a 10-goal lead by the 8:09 mark of the third quarter to take control of the contest. Inside the Box Score -Luke LeVette had a strong game for the Chargers, scoring five times while firing off 14 shots of which 10 were on goal, and he also added a pair of groundballs. -Also putting together a multi-point day was Brody Phillips who had three points from one goal and two assists. -Adam Zois and Josh Campbell were responsible for UAH's other two goals, and each of Jack Utrevis, Jacob Glen, and Brandon Goppelt had an assist for the Chargers. -Colton Nall and Jake Fowler both paced the team by recording three groundballs. -Zak Welsh made 13 saves in taking the loss in the cage. -The Greyhounds established a 57-38 advantage in shots in the contest. -UAH was 13-for-16 in clears on the day, while the guests went 16-for-19, and Indianapolis collected 32 groundballs to UAH's 21. Inside the Flow -The guests got on the board first, scoring in the first minute of the game, but LeVette's first tally of the contest came just over five minutes into the opening quarter to level the contest at 1-1. -Indianapolis scored the next three goals before LeVette got his second to make it 4-2, but the Greyhounds scored one more just before the quarter ended to go ahead 5-2 heading into the second. -Three straight from UIndy pushed them ahead 8-2 by the 11:19 mark of the second stanza, and though UAH would score three times in the period, the Greyhounds went into the break leading 12-5. -The guests then outscored UAH 6-3 in the final two quarters to create the 18-8 final. Noteworthy -LeVette now owns 16 goals on the season. -Phillips moves into a tie for second on the team in points with nine as he now owns seven goals and two assists. Next Time Out -UAH will head out on the road to continue GLVC play next weekend, starting with a Friday contest at Rockhurst. That game is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
