The 13th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team claimed its fifth straight victory, defeating G-MAC opponent Alderson Broaddus, 21-6, on Tuesday at Tullio Field. Benjamin Smith-Wilcox scored four goals and Sam Crusha tallied three scores for the Lakers (6-2, 3-0). Caleb Kueber had a five-point game, totaling one goal and four assists. Also for MU, Nathan Grenon finished with two goals and two assists while Devin Pipher, Zach Lorenz, Peyton Manko and James Wittmeyer added two goals each. Jacob Emerson, Dom Perna and Jarrett Cook had one goal and one assist each. Nicholas Mabe made two assists. Tommy Angelicola also had an assist. In the faceoff circle, Ryan Jobson was 12 of 17, Evan Schumacher finished 7 of 9 and Frankie Stark went 3 of 5. On defense, Haden Bates had five groundballs and Angelicola picked up four. Winning goalie Hunter Emerson made six saves in three quarters of action before Matthew Holowka stopped two shots in the fourth. Christian Clarkin and Jordan Look had two goals each for A-B (1-7, 0-2). Joseph Varela had 16 saves in the cage. Mercyhurst jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game en route to a 14-2 edge at halftime. The Lakers held their lead in double-figures the rest of the way. MU will play again on Saturday when it takes on Lenoir-Rhyne in a non-conference game at 1:30 p.m. The contest will be played, ironically, at neutral-site Alderson-Broaddus.
