Senior Cory Highfield (Georgetown, Ont.) and junior attackman Brandon Beland (Granite Bay, Calif.) each registered a career-high five points apiece for the UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse in the 16-15 overtime loss to Siena on Saturday afternoon at Cushing Field Complex. The River Hawks fall to 1-2 overall, while Siena improves to 1-1 on the season. Siena scored 11 goals in the second half, which included six tallies in the fourth quarter. Highfield notched a career-high five points in the first half, which included three goals in the 1st quarter alone. Beland recorded four goals, which included two in each the first and second halves. Jake Lining (Rochester, Mich.) added four points (3g,1a) in the game, while Dan Cozzi (Reading, Mass.) totaled four assists. Domenic Giachello (Somers, Conn.) amassed four points (2g,2a) in the loss for UMass Lowell. Freshman goalie Matt Murakami (Long Grove, Ill.) totaled 14 saves in his first collegiate start for the River Hawks. Siena's Aaron Lewis stopped 13 shots in his first victory of the season for the Saints. The River Hawks recorded 35 of 51 shots in the first half of action against the Saints. UMass Lowell owned a 10-4 lead at the half, after scoring the first five goals in the contest. Mike Reilly and Keenan Cook each notched a game-high six points (4g,2a) in the Saints' win.
