Pat Spencer became the second player in Loyola University Maryland history, and the 15th in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse, to score 300 career points, finishing Saturday's 19-15 win over College of the Holy Cross with three goals and eight assists to give him 303 in three-plus seasons. Kevin Lindley scores six goals and had an assist, while Chase Scanlan had five goals and two assists and Alex McGovern added two goals and one assist. Spencer's 303 career points are second all-time at Loyola behind Gary Hanley's 311, and he moved up to 15th in NCAA Division I history during the game. He also moved into the top-five in Division I history in career assists (186) and sits at fifth. His 11 points and eight assists are both the highest single-game marks in Division I this season. Lindley has scored four or more goals in all five of the Greyhounds' games this year, and Scanlan's five goals are the most of his young career. Spencer was a part of the game's first two goals that put the top-ranked Loyola in front 2-0, assisting on the first of Lindley's tallies at 12:46 and then scoring unassisted 1:09 later. The Crusaders would tie the score at 2-2 on a pair of Sean Mullaney goals, but the Greyhounds then reeled off five-straight. Scanlan scored off a Ryan McNulty assist, and Lindley added his second at 3:02, and Alex McGovern tallied a man-up goal a minute later to put Loyola in front, 5-2 at the end of the first quarter. Logan Devereaux hit a 15-yard stepdown off another McNulty feed three minutes into the second, and Spencer fed Lindley for a goal at 9:17 to stretched the lead to 7-2. Holy Cross scored three of the next four goals before Lindley had his fourth, again off a Spencer assist, with less than 16 seconds to play in the half, sending the teams to the locker room with Loyola (4-1 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) in front, 9-5. John Duffy hit a high bouncer 54 seconds into the second half to make it a five-goal difference, but Holy Cross tightened it over the next six minutes. The Crusaders posted four in a row, cutting it to 10-9 on a Will Spangenberg goal at 8:21. Lindley broke the run, however, with a goal at 7;37, and McGovern used a Spencer assist to push Loyola's lead back to three. The Crusaders, however, came back with two of their own, and a Kevin Kodzis score at 3:10 made it 12-11 going into the final quarter. Loyola caught fire to start the fourth, scoring four in a row. Scanlan opened with two in a row, first at 13:42 off a Spencer assist and then with 12:38 on the clock to close out an extra-man possession. Riley Cox added a high-to-low goal at 10:43, and Scanlan scored his third of the quarter with 9:00 on the clock. The Greyhounds controlled a 40-34 advantage in ground balls, led by Bailey Savio's career-high 12 as he won 19 face-offs. Peter Swindell picked up a career-best six, as well. Loyola returns to action on Thursday, March 7, when it heads to Durham, North Carolina, for a 7 p.m. game at Duke University that will air live on ESPNU.
