Cal Fullerton scored the game-winning goal to give the Bowdoin men's lacrosse team an 8-7 win over Connecticut College in its season-opener on Saturday afternoon at Whittier Field. The Polar Bears (1-0) led for the most of regulation only to see the Camels (0-1) score twice in a one minute span in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Game Highlights Bowdoin took the lead on a Jake Crossman goal 1:43 into the game and held a 3-1 lead after the opening quarter. Conn. College got goals from Brandon Plante and PJ Kelleher to tie the game early in the second quarter, before Reed Baker and Sam Langan regained the lead for Bowdoin. The Polar Bears held a 5-4 lead at intermission and the teams traded goals in the third quarter as Bowdoin carried a 6-5 advantage heading to the fourth. Zach Chandler extended Bowdoin's lead to two goals early in the final frame, but Plante and Jordan Foster scored at 6:13 and 5:15, respectively, to tie the score at 7-7. Both teams had a possession in overtime, and Jon Creed had a doorstep opportunity to give the Camels the victory. Bowdoin goaltender Jack O'Connor made a clutch save and the Polar Bear scooped up the groundball. Cal Fullerton took it coast-to-coast and ripped a low shot to win it with 39.6 left in the first overtime. By The Numbers Jake Crossman and Zach Chandler scored twice apiece for Bowdoin in the victory. Brad Ingersoll had two assists. Henry Savage had a team-high three caused turnovers. Jordan Foster had two goals and two assists for Connecticut College. Brandon Plante had two scores. Faceoffs were split as Bowdoin's Sam Carlin won 10 against nine for Toby Almedia of Conn. College. Colin Smith stopped 15 shots for the Camels. Jack O'Connor had six saves for Bowdoin. The Polar Bears owned a 48-19 edge in shots in the game.
