The NJIT men's lacrosse team ended the month of March with a close 14-11 loss to the Wagner Seahawks Saturday afternoon at Rutgers-Newark's Alumni Field. Vincent D'Agostino, Jackson Boyd and Joe Covino set new career highs with their scoring outputs - D'Agostino and Boyd record their first career hat tricks while Covino score two goals for the first time ever - while Collin Fogerty, Max Wilson, and Noah Kepes added a goal apiece. Fogerty also dished out a career-best three assists while Aaron Forster added two and Jackson Boyd and Ryan Kaden helped on one goal each. John Tachon set a new season-high for NJIT (1-9) with eight ground balls and Fogerty caused three turnovers on the day. The Highlanders won the first quarter, 6-4, as Covino and Boyd led the charge with two goals each. Wilson put NJIT on the board 36 seconds into the contest and after two goals from Wagner (2-7), D'Agostino and Covino put the Highlanders back ahead, 3-2, with 8:50 left in the period. The Seahawks added another pair of scores (4-3) but NJIT ended the quarter with three straight goals in a four-and-a-half minute stretch. Wagner turned the tide in the second frame after outscoring NJIT 6-1 to change a two-point Highlander lead into a three-point Seahawk advantage. A man-up score from Kepes and goals from Boyd and Fogerty in less than 30 seconds helped the Highlanders trim the lead to two (12-10) but Wagner kept its distance from NJIT with a 2-1 fourth quarter.
