Keene State regrouped quickly, as Shane Molloy put the visitors on the board when he took a Connor Nolan feed and blasted in a goal from distance. Dave Wiedenfeld continued his fantastic 2019 season when he scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to one. With 5:11 to go in the opening quarter, the Ephs extended their lead back to two goals when John Hincks found the back of the net. The story of the quarter was how the Owls kept bouncing back, Michael Fritschy became the third different Owl to score when he took off from behind the net and finished off an acrobatic solo effort past the Ephs netminder.
