The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (1-11, 1-4 AE) defeated Hartford (4-10, 2-3 AE) at home on senior day Saturday evening at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Senior Joe Licata led the Bearcats offensively with five goals and three assists, while freshman Kevin Winkoff danced closely behind, tallying four of his own. In just his third full game this season, senior Kevin Carbone recorded the win, coming up with 19 saves in the net for a .631 save percentage on the game. "Today was a great team effort," head coach Kevin McKeown said. "It was great to see our seniors lead that effort on the field as well as seeing some of the young guys step up. It was an all around team win today and we're looking forward to trying to get another next weekend." Highlights In one of the most exciting games of the season for Binghamton, six Bearcats marked the scoresheet in the thrilling 15-12 victory. Licata recorded a career-high eight points in the victory, going off for five goals and three assists. He started his run just one minute into the game as he put Binghamton on the board first off an assist from Ryan Winkoff. The Bearcats finished the first quarter trailing Sacred Heart 3-1, when Licata quickly closed the gap to one with his second goal of the day at 12:42 in the second period. Sacred Heart followed with a 3-0 run to go go up 6-2. Jackson Rieger scored his second goal of the season to cap off the first half of play, converting a feed from Talbot-Shere to bring the Bearcats within three at the end of the second quarter. Binghamton ran the offensive show in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 5-1 to take back the lead of the game 8-7. Andrew Arce scored his third goal of the season to tie the game 7-7 from an assist from Rieger, before Licata secured the hat-trick to pull the Bearcats ahead. Hartford contested at the start of the fourth, as the two went goal for goal in the first five minutes of play. Binghamton pulled away with a four goal run, extending it's lead 13-9. Hartford scored three consecutive goals to pull within one, but a third goal from Arce and Griffin Konen's first goal of the game sealed the deal for the Bearcats. Jack Sullivan finished the game 12-25 in face-offs, while Drew Furlong went 5-6. Kyle Tiernan went for three caused turnovers in the game, while Furlong and Dan Mottes added two a piece. Up Next The Bearcats are back in action when they travel to UMass Lowell to take on the River Hawks on Fri. Apr. 26. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start.
