Sophomore Maggie Kane netted the Wolverines' first goal and has scored at least one goal in every contest this season. Junior Molly Garrett also scored a goal, won two draw controls and had two caused turnovers. Kane led the Wolverines with three draw control victories. Also scoring a goal for Michigan was junior Nadine Stewart, who scored in the second half off a pass from senior Adriana Pendino. Senior goalkeeper Mira Shane took the loss in net and made 12 saves against the Terrapins. With her 12 saves, Shane recorded her fourth game this season with double-digit saves. The Wolverines won the opening draw and scored immediately as Kane ripped the ball in the back of the cage only 29 seconds into the first half to give Michigan an early 1-0 lead over the Terrapins. The U-M defense kept Maryland scoreless for 12 minutes, but once it scored it went on an 8-0 run to close out the first half with an 8-1 advantage. Maryland scored 32 seconds into the second half to extend its lead to 9-1. Garrett answered with a draw-control win that she took all the way to the goal and scored to cut the Terrapin lead to seven, 9-2, with 23:21 left in the second half. Maryland continued to build on its lead and held a 12-2 advantage with 18:33 left to play. Less than two minutes later, Pendino fed Stewart inside for a goal to bring Michigan within nine, 12-3, a lead the Wolverines could not overcome. Michigan will honor its senior class on Senior Day in its final home game of the season next Saturday (April 13) when it welcomes Rutgers to U-M Lacrosse Stadium for a 3 p.m. first draw.
