NEWTON, Mass. – The No. 1 Boston College lacrosse team topped their third top-10 opponent in two weeks as they defeated No. 5 Notre Dame, 13-9, Wednesday afternoon in Newton. The Eagles were led by senior Sam Apuzzo and junior Cara Urbank who each tallied three goals while graduate student Kenzie Kent led all point-scorers with six, tallying two goals and assisting on four others. Sophomore goalkeeper Abbey Ngai marked her ninth straight win with 14 saves in net, tying her career-best. Through the opening minutes, both teams' defenses held strong as the teams combined for five turnovers before the first goal was scored. Notre Dame hopped on the board first with Samantha Lynch's first of the day almost nine full minutes into the contest. The first-goal lead would show to be the only lead for the Irish of the day, as senior defender Brooke Troy tied it up for the Eagles with her first goal of the season. Just a minute later, Urbank tallied her first of the day after grabbing a pass from Kent. Kent then tallied her own goal as the Eagles would go on to find a 6-1 advantage before allowing Notre Dame's Andie Aldave to cut into the lead. Senior Taylor Walker answered just 11 seconds later before the teams traded goals to round out the opening half. The closing frame opened in similar nature as Notre Dame's Maddie Howe opened up the second half scoring, but not until after almost eight minutes had passed on the clock. Kent added the Eagles' 10th goal of the day with a woman-up advantage before Notre Dame went on a 4-1 run to cut within just two goals with less than 10 minutes to play. Apuzzo and junior Sheila Rietano added insurance goals and secured BC's 13th win of the season.
