. 17 Rutgers men's lacrosse improved to 2-0 on the season with a 17-10 victory over St. John's. The Scarlet Knights were led by Adam Charalambides with six goals and four tallies from Ryan Gallagher. Michael Sanguinetti scored twice, with David Sprock, Ross Scott, Brennan Kamish, Mark Schachte and Ethal Rall scoring one goal apiece. Shots for the game were even at 48. St. John's had 18 turnovers to just nine for the Scarlet Knights. RU was 23-of-24 on clears and goalkeeper Stephen Russo made 14 saves. HOW IT HAPPENED The Scarlet Knights raced out to a 9-4 halftime lead, spurred on by a 6-2 advantage in the second quarter. Adam Charalambides recorded a hat trick in the opening half, while Ryan Gallagher tallied twice. Stephen Russo made nine saves in the opening 30 minutes. In the second half, St. John's got back to within four at 12-8, but RU responded with a four-goal run that prevented any thoughts of a comeback. POSTGAME NOTES Adam Charlambides ​​​​​​led ​the way with seven points on six goals and a assist. He now has 16 goals in three career games against St. John's. It was the 17th time in his career he recorded at least three goals. Ryan Gallagher's four goals tied a career-high. It was his fifth career game with at least a hat trick. Garrett Bullett had a career-high six ground balls. Michael Sanguinetti had his first career multi-goal game. Redshirt sophomore LSM Ethan Rall scored his first career goal.
