Thanks to a balanced offense, the No. 15/16 Army West Point men's lacrosse team continued its hot streak at Michie Stadium with a 15-10 win over Binghamton on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. The Black Knights improve to 5-2 overall and 5-0 on home turf. Miles Silva led the team with five goals, while Nichtern posted a trio of goals and a trio of assists for six points. HOW IT HAPPENED The Black Knights were tested early by Binghamton after the Bearcats took a 2-1 lead in the first two minutes of the game. Jacob Morin got the scoring rolling off a feed from Abshire, but back-to-back Binghamton goals gave Army's opponent the advantage. During a man-up opportunity, Nichtern connected with Silva in front for the score. Binghamton tallied another to re-take the lead 3-2. The Black Knights bounced back with a 6-0 run though to make it 8-3. Nichtern found Silva again before Philipp notched two-straight tallies. Nichtern then scored a pair of goals spaced two minutes apart. O'Brien found the back of the net off a pass from Abshire to give Army an 8-3 advantage. Binghamton scored three of the next four goals to bring it within three at halftime. Kielbasa was responsible for the Cadets' goal in the stretch. The Black Knights shutout the Bearcats in the third quarter with a 4-0 run. Matt Manown found Silva for a goal on top of the crease and then Nichtern, Abshire and Silva all recorded unassisted scores. Binghamton kept things interesting with four in a row to start off the final period, but the Black Knights netted two more to clinch the game. Silva had a highlight reel worthy score with 3:13 left in the game to put things out of reach for the Bearcats. He received a pass from Philipp and had a diving goal. O'Brien scored on an empty net off an assist from Nichtern as Binghamton was trying to gain possession.
