John Dunbar recorded his second straight hat trick for the Widener University men's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon, but the Pride ultimately fell to #12 Gettysburg by a final score of 12-10 HIGHLIGHTS Dunbar's three goals came just days after he posted a three piece in a win over Emerson at Franklin Field on Wednesday. He also scooped a team-high five ground balls on the day. Paz Gismondi notched four points on a goal and three assists. Connor Heisman and Connor Ball both found the back of the cage twice. Brian Maienshein and Josh Ferguson tied a team best five ground balls. Ferguson also caused two turnovers. HOW IT HAPPENED The Pride found the scoreboard first, taking an early 2-0 lead off a pair of goals from Heisman and Ball. One more from Dunbar before the end of the quarter, put it up 3-1 after 15 minutes of play. The Bullets responded in the second, scoring three times in a two minute span to retake the advantage. One more goal from Gismondi sent the teams into halftime locked at 5 a piece. Both sides continued to trade goals in the second half, including the first of the day for Chad Allison and Nick DiIorio. With the score tied 10-10 and 1:17 left to play in the game, the Bullets got one past Widener to take the late lead. Another empty net goal by Gettysburg cemented the final tally as the Pride was dealt its first setback of the season. UP NEXT Widener stays at home to take on Elizabethtown on Saturday, March 14. Opening faceoff from Quick Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
