Best Lacrosse Goalie Gear For 2017

Oct 17, 2016
New lacrosse goalie gear is arriving daily at LAX.com.  Our Pro's are excited about the new technology that has been added, specifically to lacrosse goalie equipment, to provide goalies with the advantage to be able to stop any shot on goal. NEW LACROSSE GOALIE MESH PRODUCTS Let’s start with some of the best lacrosse goalie mesh on the market.  That is right - mesh.  Sometimes we forget that with all the footwork, directing traffic, getting pegged and generally being a hero that the main focus of a goalies job is to:
  • STOP THE BALL

  • DON’T GIVE UP REBOUNDS

  • CLEAR THE BALL AS QUICKLY AND CLEANLY AS POSSIBLE
So when we look at the best way to get the job done, it all starts with the mesh.  The mesh needs to be soft, with the ability to eat rebounds. It also needs to be able to "pass-on-a-rope" or get some air under the ball and pass high.  There are two  new options for lacrosse goalies to use. The first is from StringKing.  They renamed their original best selling Grizzly mesh to Grizzly 1S - the “S” is for soft.  Also new to the line is the Grizzly 1X - which is the harder version.  If you want to learn more check out this video: STRINGKING GOALIE MESH REVIEW AND VIDEO.  Grizzly 1X is designed for more elite level players that want the shot stopping durability and quick outlet pass ability that harder mesh is known for.  The StringKing Grizzly 1X String Kit retails at $54.   Our LAX.com Pro's are glad that StringKing is offering a real option for high school and advanced youth players to have the same pockets as the collegiate elite and the Pros. NEW LACROSSE GOALIE CHEST PROTECTORS All of our Pro's agree, the best new lacrosse goalie chest protector on the market is the Warrior Nemesis Pro Chest Pad.  This chest protector articulates in the middle, has a beefed up sternum plate and wider collarbone protection.  It does not ride up under your helmet and is more form fitting than other models.  This pad is the new "King Of The Crease", and priced at $159, it better be good.  Basically if you have the cash - get the Nemesis Pro! [caption id="attachment_19771" align="aligncenter" width="600"]Nemesis Pro Chest Protector Nemesis Pro Chest Protector[/caption] For advancing youth lacrosse players, the Warrior Nemisis Pro Chest Pad has a little brother that we like for the JV and below crowd.  The Warrior Nemesis Chest Pad is designed with some added shoulder cap protection and the same articulation in the middle that makes for a perfect fit.  For $99, you get a serious, nice fitting pad that younger goalies should really consider.   NEW LACROSSE GOALIE GLOVES The best new lacrosse goalie glove on the market is the Maverix MAX goalie glove.   We have made no bones about it, the Maverik guys have designed the best goalie thumbs in lacrosse on their RX3, the M3 and now the MAX.  These got released at the Maverik Showtime event this year and the top 12 goalies in the nation go the first pairs.  The reviews were amazing.  Low profile, good wrist mobility, solid backhand and ultimate knuckle protection.  The biggest call out was the shorter cuff and soft feel in the palm.   These are the go to for high school and collegiate players this year.  Retailing at $159, these are priced under the elite level spectrum and offer tremendous value. [caption id="attachment_19781" align="aligncenter" width="600"]Brine King Superlight 3 Lacrosse Goalie Glove Brine King Superlight 3 Lacrosse Goalie Glove[/caption] For the younger guys, JV and down, we really like the Brine King Superlight 3 goalie glove.  Nice solid thumb, lightweight and good mobility.  The Superlight series has been an advanced youth favorite and best seller for 5 years running.  Brine dialed it up a notch with heavier materials and more padding than ever.  For $109, you are getting a serious upgrade for a younger player in a goalie lacrosse glove.
