The Bucknell women's lacrosse team outlasted American, 17-15, in a wild, back-and-forth contest on Saturday at Graham Field. The Bison (2-3, 2-2 PL) had seven players enjoy multi-point outings during their victory over the Eagles (1-5, 0-3 PL). Sophomore Caroline Miller had a breakout game, registering the first six points of her collegiate career on five goals and one assist. In addition, Emma Cashwell (3g-1a), Mason Rode (3g), Caroline Walsh (3g), Laurel McHale (1g-2a), Kali Peeples (2g) and Katie Wendell (2a) logged at least two points apiece. Along with netting her second-straight hat trick, Rode filled the stat sheet with eight ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Most notably, she matched Bucknell's school standard in ground balls; she is the seventh Bison to post this figure and the first since the DeWitt twins, Callie and Jamisen, did so in back-to-back games during the 2019 campaign. Rode tied Miller and Wendell for the team lead in caused turnovers and Ella Payer for the team high in draw controls. At halftime, Bucknell held a 12-8 advantage over American. After ceding the second half's first goal, the Bison strung together a 4-0 run that extended their lead to 16-9, tied for their largest of the contest. While the Eagles closed the game on a 6-1 run, netting the game's final five goals, they ran out of time to complete their comeback. For American, Casey Harkins was sensational, piling up 11 points on five goals and six assists. Emma Vindall added five points on four goals and one assist; she also led all players with eight draw controls. Lauren Kinnee and Caitlin Tucker split time in the Bucknell net, with Kinnee making seven saves and Tucker stopping 10 shots. Helena Morrison made 10 saves for the Eagles. Bucknell led in ground balls (25-18) while the Eagles held the advantage in shots on goal (32-27). The teams were even in shots (35-35) and draw controls (17-17).
