Grove City College struck for five man-up goals on six opportunities while building a seven-point first-half lead and Colorado could not get closer than three goals during a 21-14 setback against the Wolverines on Sunday. After CC's Elliot Nelson tied the score at 2-2 with 3:56 remaining in the first quarter, Grove City went on an 11-4 scoring binge to build a 13-6 cushion after 30 minutes. Nelson's second goal 1:42 into the second half ignited a 4-0 run for the Tigers, but after Dylan Wells scored to cut the Tigers' deficit to 13-10, the Wolverines retaliated with a 5-1 surge to re-gain the momentum. Nelson and John Lawrence notched goals in a span of 11 seconds to pull Colorado College to within 18-13 with 9:20 to play, however Grave City answered with four consecutive markers to end any hopes for comeback by the Tigers. Anders Erickson led CC with four goals and three assists for his sixth four-goal and seven-point game in two seasons. For the second day in a row, Nelson produced three goals and an assist, and reached the 100-point mark. Griffin Elliot became the first newcomer to score for the Tigers when he knotted the score at 1-1 midway through the first quarter. Brett Gladstone led the Wolverines with seven goals and a pair of assists, while Zachary Hougan notched six markers and set up three others. Grove City won 20 of 36 faceoffs and finished with a 34-25 advantage in ground balls. The Wolverines also won 20 of 36 faceoffs. In his first career start, Cam Devlin made four saves for Colorado College in 21:13 of action. Ben Anastos came on with 8:47 remaining in the first half and stopped 11 shots. Jack Petit made nine saves for Grove City. Colorado College Standouts John Lawrence produced three caused turnovers and picked up a pair of ground balls. Charlie Harrington won eight of 12 faceoffs and led CC with five ground balls. Grove City College Standouts Michael La Forte finished with two goals and two assists.
