ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Thirteen different Seahawks scored at least one goal as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team dominated in their home-opener on a chilly Saturday afternoon. St. Mary's College (3-0) remained undefeated on the young season with a 16-4 non-conference victory over McDaniel College (1-1). How It Happened Sophomore attackman Johnny McGrain (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) notched a goal and an assist as the Seahawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead with 6:52 left in the first period. McDaniel responded with back-to-back goals from Patrick Fegan and Nick DeLoriers to trim the deficit to 3-2 with 2:59 remaining in the first. St. Mary's College then rattled of seven unanswered goals, including two in the final 2:40 of the first frame, to stake a 10-2 advantage at halftime. Senior attackman Jude Brown (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) notched two goals and an assist while McGrain added a pair of helpers in the 7-0 run. The Green Terror netted the first goal of the third period before St. Mary's College found the back of the net four consecutive times, a goal and an assist from senior Jack Brocato (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's), to stretch its lead to 14-3 with 9:27 to go in the game. After DeLoriers scored his second of the afternoon, junior Walker Krizman (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and sophomore midfielder Mark LoPresto (Elkton, Md./Tome) combined for the Seahawks' final two goals. Inside the Box Score The Seahawks outshot McDaniel, 56-23, on their way to a season-best 16 goals while St. Mary's College claimed the ground ball battle, 46-15, as Brown scooped up seven and junior midfielder Mitch Boudreau (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) picked up five. Of the seven extra-man opportunities in the game, only the Green Terror recorded a man-up goal, going 1-for-5. Face-offs went to the Seahawks as Boudreau won 9-of-16 to lead the team to a 14-of-23 effort at the X. Player Highlights Brown finished the afternoon with his 12th career hat trick, tallying four points on three goals and an assist. Senior captain Abe Hubbard (Owings, Md./Northern) was next with two goals and a career-best two assists. Sophomore defenseman Ethan Little (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) paced the defense with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior captain Kyrle Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield) matched his season-high with 11 saves and added two ground balls.
