BELMONT, N.C. - Preseason All-American Noah Haas scored three goals, but the #11 Belmont Abbey Men's Lacrosse team lost to #15 Limestone 20-9 this afternoon. It was the season opener for both teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Haas got the scoring started, but seven straight scores by Limestone gave the Saints a 7-1 lead when the opening quarter ended
In the second, Haas again scored early. Midway through the period, he scored a man-up goal, which made it a 10-4 Saints lead. Limestone held an 11-4 lead at halftime
In the third, LU scored three straight before Kamren Thomas was able to give The Abbey a score. The Saints had an 18-5 advantage heading into the final quarter
The fourth was The Abbey's best quarter. Bailey Williams scored in the opening minute of the period, off a pass from Luke Spanier
Noah Sexton scored two goals in a row, while Austin Hasen capped off the scoring. Limestone, though, won 20-9 at the end
On the day, Haas was the Crusader leader with three goals. Sexton and Hasen each scored twice
James Bucher caused three Limestone turnovers. Thomas Sullivan made 13 saves in goal
