ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – In the first meeting between the two teams, no. 18 Florida Southern men's lacrosse defeated Flagler Saturday afternoon 22-4 at Flagler Lacrosse Stadium. In the win, junior Sean Nolan reached the century mark in goals, becoming the fourth Moccasin player to reach 100 career goals. Sean Nolan, a Cross River, N.Y. native, entered the road game two shy of the 100-career mark and tallied five goals in the game. The junior attacker would score numbers 99 and 100 in the second period of the game and cross over the 100-goal plateau late in the third. Nolan joined the ranks of Dane Sorensen (2012-15, 175), Cody Dyer (2014-17, 119), and Lucas Claude (2015-18, 106) in program history with over 100 goals. Florida Southern (4-2) fell behind 2-0 early to Flagler in the opening period before tying the game and taking the period 3-2 with goals from Thomas Frank and Craig Connor. Another 3-2 period in favor of the Moccasins would give FSC a 6-4 halftime lead. The Mocs' halftime message was clear as Florida Southern blanked the Saints in the last two quarters while scoring nine goals in the third and seven in the fourth to reach the 22-4 final. It's the fourth 20-goal game of the season, and the first time in program history FSC has had four 20-plus-goal games in a season. Sophomore Thomas Frank paced the team with seven goals on nine shots on goal while the Coral Springs, Fla. native added two assists for nine-game points. Jeff Atlas was second on the team in scoring but led the Mocs with points at 10 with a six-goal, four-assist performance. Craig Conner, Griffin Phillips, Andrew Medeiros, and Matt Flammenspeck all added one goal for the Moccasins. With his goal at the 7:06 mark in the fourth quarter, the freshman from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Flammenspeck notched his first career goal off a pass from Matt Bradley. Junior goalie Maxwell Freestone earned the win after 45 minutes of action between the pipes. The Scottsdale, Ariz. Native tallied 10 saves in goal while moving to 2-1 on the season. Sophomore Matt Halperin saw action in goal for the Mocs and had three saves. Florida Southern will return home to host Lindenwood on March 7 at 3 p.m. at Berend Field at the Barnett Athletic Complex.
