LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville lacrosse trailed 2-0 early, but got the lead at the end of the first quarter and never trailed again in a 16-9 win at Cincinnati on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 5-3 on the year, while the Bearcats fall to 3-5. "There were a lot of positives in tonight's game," said head coach Scott Teeter. "It was good to get everyone in the game. I thought we competed really hard for 60 minutes and we won all four quarters." Trailing 2-0 just under five minutes into the game, Louisville rallied off four straight goals from Caroline Blalock, Nicole Perroni and two from Allegra Catalano to take a 4-2 lead at the beginning of the second quarter. The Bearcats then scored two consecutive goals to even the score at 4-4 before the Cardinals ended the half on a 7-3 run to take an 11-7 lead into halftime. The surge continued after both teams returned from the locker room as Louisville scored the first four goals of a third quarter to build a 15-7 cushion and cruised to the 16-9 win. Caroline Blalock finished with three goals and a career-high five assists to lead the Cardinals. Her five assists are tied for fourth all-time in Louisville program history, while her eight points are tied for fifth. Catalano added four goals on four shots to tie her career-high, while Perroni finished with three goals on four shots and Kylea Dobson had three goals on five shots. Tiffany Natoli had two goals on three shots. Combined the quintet finished with 15 goals on just 21 shots. Overall, the Cardinals had 16 goals on 30 shots. Louisville had 22 shots on goal to Cincinnati's 17. Louisville returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play when they travel to play at North Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
