May 8, 2017

Looking to capture the 2017 Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Championship and secure an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, the Cornell women’s lacrosse team hosted the Princeton Tigers at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, NY. With both teams ranked in the top twenty in the country, it was the third time the two Ivy League foes met in the conference championship. In front of a energetic crowd and rainy conditions, the Tigers jumped out to a early 7-1 lead, riding the stellar play of senior goalie Ellie DeGarmo, who kade a Ivy league record 15 saves in the game, en route to being named the tournaments MVP. The Big Red of Cornell would attempt a late comeback, eventually cutting the Princeton lead to 11-9 late in the second half, but would fall short of the win as the Tigers defeated Cornell,12-9. lax.com was on scene for this Ivy League showdown.
