With conference play just on the horizon for both lacrosse squads, the Georgetown University men’s lacrosse team hosted the Duke Blue Devils at Cooper Field in Washington, D.C. Looking to turn around a sub .500 record, the Hoyas aimed to use their explosive offense to pull off the upset while the Duke Blue Devils headed into the nations capital anchored by one of the games top goalies in Danny Fowler and junior attack man Justin Guterding. From the start, the matchup was all Blue Devils as Duke raced out to an early lead and never looked back, winning by a score of 12-7. Guterding paced the way yet again, scoring a game high five goals while freshman Joey Manown also added four points. For the Hoyas, freshman Jake Carraway recorded his second career hat trick while goalie Nick Marrocco made ten saves. Georgetown will look to bounce back when it travels north to play Loyola while Duke heads to upstate New York for an ACC showdown with the Syracuse Orange.
