2017 Stony Brook Womens Lacrosse

Apr 8, 2017
When Stony Brook University women's lacrosse head coach Joe Spallina left Adelphi in 2012, it took little time for his impact to be felt at Stony Brook and on the Division One lacrosse level. With eight IWLCA All-Americans, five Tewaaraton watch-list players, and four conference championships, it is obvious that Coach Spallina has molded the Sea Wolves into a powerhouse in the women’s lacrosse game. So far in 2017, the season has not been a disappointment, with the program being ranked fourth in Division 1 with a 10-1 record. As a Long Island native during a massive growth in the women's game, Coach Spallina talks about the success in his career and how being on Long Island helps fuel his program. This season's success has put Stony Brook in the driver seat going into the post season, but the Sea Wolves focus on themselves preparing for each game. Lax.com visited the Seawolves before their huge matchup against Colorado for a behind the scenes look at SBU.
