Univ. of Albany vs Cornell University

Mar 9, 2017

In what is becoming one of the top rivalries in college lacrosse, the Cornell Big Red Men’s lacrosse team hosted their intra-state rivals, the Albany Great Danes, at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, NY. With the contest originally scheduled for the day before but moved due to frigid temperatures across upstate New York, the Big Red were looking for their first win of the 2017 college lacrosse season while the ninth ranked Albany Great Danes were looking to move to 3-1. From the games first whistle, the Danes seized control, starting the first half with an 11-1 run and were paced by junior attack Connor Fields, who had a career high eight points on five goals and three assists. The stellar play would continue all game long for the Danes as they would cruise to a 17-6 win over the Big Red. For Cornell, three players had two goals each while goalie Christian Knight made ten saves in the loss. Next on the schedule, Cornell will travel to California for the Pacific Coast Shootout against the University of Virginia while Albany will return home for a top ten matchup against the University of Maryland.
