The Game Story:
Lafayette Women's Lacrosse Falls 12-7 to Colgate in Patriot League Action

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -Kim Maron recorded four goals in the first half, but it was not enough for the Lafayette women's lacrosse team, who fell to Patriot League foe Colgate 12-7 on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams traded pairs of goals to open up the game, with Colgate's Tara Casey finding the back of the net just 30 seconds into the contest. Teammate Katie McVeigh recorded her first of six goals just a minute later at 28:36 before Maron was able to get Lafayette on the board on a free position shot at 24:33.

Maron struck again at 24:01 on an unassisted shot past Colgate goaltender Sue Bielamowicz.

The Raiders then scored three straight before Maron was able to pull the Leopards back within three at 13:35. Maron scored on her second free position shot of the day with 10:36 left to play in the half, but McVeigh tallied two more for Colgate to put the Raiders ahead 7-4 at halftime.

Casey opened the scoring again in the second half of play, recording Colgate's eighth goal at 27:46. Just 12 seconds later, Lafayette's Katie Curtin found a cutting Katie Layng, who found the back of the net.

Layng would later record an assist on Kaleigh Mountain's goal at 23:29 of the second half.

McVeigh and Becky Ortolano would account for Colgate's final three goals of the game, before Lafayette's Natalie Kuhnert recorded her first goal of the season on a free position shot at 3:07.

Jaclyn Kushner recorded 13 saves in goal for the Leopards, who fell to 2-9 overall, 1-3 in Patriot League play. Bielamowicz made nine stops in the net for Colgate.

Lafayette will be back in action on Saturday, April 10 as they travel to Worcester, Mass. for a 12 p.m. game against Patriot League opponent Holy Cross.
