| HANOVER, N.H. -- Juniors Jamie Coffin (Greenwich, Conn.) and Ryan Danehy (No. Billerica, Mass.) each scored four goals to lead the Dartmouth men's lacrosse team to a 17-9 victory over Siena on Sunday afternoon. The victory pushed the Big Green's record to 2-0 on the year as Dartmouth used an eight-goal outburst in the second quarter to assume control of the game. Siena took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, but Dartmouth answered with nine straight goals, beginning with Coffin's first of the day with 54 seconds left. In the second period, Coffin added another goal, Danehy potted two and junior Brad Heritage (Cheshire, Conn.) contributed three as the Big Green built a 9-3 halftime advantage. Also scoring in that critical stretch were junior Alec Hufnagel (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and senior Nick Bonacci (Crofton, Md.). Dartmouth poured in three more goals by Bonacci, Hufnagel and senior Ben Grinnell (Waccabuc, N.Y.) for a 12-3 margin early in the third. The score went to 15-5 early in the fourth when Coffin and Danehy scored 28 seconds apart. Coffin added three assists for a seven-point afternoon, while Bonacci had four to go along with his two goals. Senior defenseman Pat Keeley (Potomac, Md.) scored Dartmouth's final goal with 6:03 left in the game. It was the first of his collegiate career. In the net, senior Andrew Goldstein (Milton, Mass.) made five saves in the first 52:11, before sophomore Matt DeMarco (Shoreham, N.Y.) had two stops in the final 7:43. Siena's David Jalette made 17 saves. Dartmouth breaks for final exams for the winter term before resuming action on Saturday, March 19 with a home game against Sacred Heart. |
