Drexel vs. Sacred Heart

The Game Story:
Philadelphia, Pa.- Jeff Pfeffer had a career-high seven points and Adam Dennis netted a career-best five goals as Drexel defeated Sacred Heart, 18-6, in a Colonial Athletic Association game on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field. Dennis scored three of his five goals in the first six minutes as the Dragons (5-6, 2-3 CAA) raced to an early lead and never trailed in the contest. Sacred Heart fell to 2-9 overall and 2-3 in league play.
































































The Dragons had goals from nine different players as they scored a season-high 16 goals. Pfeffer had five of his seven points in the second half and the senior handed out four assists in the game. Drexel led 9-3 at the half and scored the first four goals of the second half to put the game out of reach. Yoni Cohen, L.C. Moerschel and Ron Garling each had two goals for Drexel, while Steve Grossi handed out three assists.
































































Drexel's Kevin Dart opened the scoring at the 11:08 mark of the first quarter. It started a 4-0 run as the Dragons took a 6-1 lead at the end of the first period. Dennis had four goals in the quarter.
































































Sacred Heart cut it to 6-2 in the early portion of the second quarter when James Hinkson scored his second goal of the game. Drexel answered less than a minute later when Chris O'Connnor set up Ron Garling at the 10:58 mark. L.C. Moerschel scored the first of his two goals and Dennis scored another as the Dragons led 9-2 late in the first half. Kiel Adams had a goal for the Pioneers with two minutes to cut the lead to six at intermission.
































































All three of the Pioneers' goals in the second half came on man-up situations. Billy Fuchs had two of those goals and Matthew Robideau completed the scoring with 1:28 left in the game with Drexel down a man.
































































Bruce Bickford made 11 saves for the Dragons and allowed just four goals before Andy Blahut took over in the final minutes. The Dragons will play their final CAA contest of the season on Saturday against Hofstra at Vidas Field. The Pride is 11-1 on the season and currently ranked second in the nation. Game-time is set for 1 p.m.
