Lafayette vs. Lehigh

The Game Story:
EASTON, Pa. ( - Lehigh outscored Lafayette 11-4 in the second half on its way to a 14-8 win in men's lacrosse action Tuesday night at Rappolt Field. Lehigh erased Lafayette's 5-3 halftime lead with five unanswered goals to open the second half.

Three different players scored for each team in the opening quarter. The Leopards led for most of the quarter thanks to Ted Blackburn and Matt Prevost who scored in the first four minutes. Their tallies surrounded a goal by Lehigh's Andrew Lucas. Lehigh took a 3-2 lead on goals by David Cohen (2:08) and Tim Butler (2:30), but Lafayette's Tim Derosier closed out the quarter with a goal at 2:08 to tie the game.

Lafayette had the only offense in the second quarter as Prevost (6:24) and Tyler Mullin (18.2) hit the back of the net to give Lafayette a 5-3 halftime lead.

Lehigh (4-5, 2-1) opened the second half with five straight goals, two by Lucas, two by Tony Lowe and one from Jeff Doran to seize an 8-5 lead. The Leopards' Mike Fiorillo closed out the quarter with a pair of goals that cut the Lehigh lead to 8-7.

In the decisive fourth quarter, Lehigh converted on two extra-man opportunities and outscored Lafayette 6-1. Lowe had three goals and Lucas two for the Mountain Hawks in the session. Lucas finished the game with five goals, to Lowe's four and Cohen ended with six points (2g, 4a). Pat Lennon's fifth goal of the season was the lone Lafayette tally in the fourth quarter.

Lafayette's Mike Neary made 15 saves in goal. Russell Kushner and Thomas Ellis each played a half in goal for Lehigh. Kushner made six saves. Prevost led the way for Lafayette in his second game back from injury, scoring two goals and adding an assist.
