Dowling vs. Cw Post

The Game Story:
Brookhaven, NY- The Dowling Men's Lacrosse team finished up their regular season at Golden Lions Field with a 15-8 loss to #2 nationally ranked C.W. Post University this Saturday.

Facing off against the conference foe Pioneers, Dowling would look to give them their 2nd loss of the season while trying to improve to 8-5. The first 5 minutes saw a lot of back and forth action betweent he two teams, but it would be the Pioneers who would score first with a shot by Mike Messina at the 10:51 mark, giving them the 1-0 lead. Dowling wouldn't wait long to strike back as Matthew Sutherland would score just over a minute later. Brandon Bergersen would give the Golden Lions the lead with just over 4 minutes remaining in the first. Each team would score two more times, including shots from John McClure and P.J. Nunez. Dowling would hold the lead at 4-3 going into the 2nd period.

The Pioneers would heat it up as they opened the 2nd quarter with a goal from Matt Dimler. Three more unanswered goals would give C.W. Post the 7-4 lead with just over 2 minutes remaining in the half. John Amato would shorten their lead to two before the half closed out, giving Dowling the smaller defecit to make up.

It would be all C.W. Post in the 3rd as they went on to score all 6 goals of the 3rd period, opening up their lead as they held a 13-5 advantage over the Golden Lions going into the final quarter.

Despite 3 goals from Dowling in the 4th, including 1 each from McClure, Kyle O'Brien, and Brandon Bergersen, the Golden Lions couldn't catch the Pioneers as they fell 15-8.

Dowling will finish the regular season with a 7-6 record while C.W. Post improves to 13-1.
