| SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Brandon Spillett (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored three goals and assisted on three more to lead top-ranked Le Moyne to a 12-3 win over No. 5 C.W. Post in a non-conference men’s lacrosse contest at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The defending national champion Dolphins (9-0) extend their winning streak to 25 consecutive games. C.W. Post (5-3) suffered its first loss against a Division II opponent this season. Four players scored goals for Le Moyne. Freshman Mike McDonald (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) scored four times, junior Jason Longo (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) netted three goals in the second quarter and senior Matt Holdridge (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) tallied two goals. Le Moyne opened up a 5-1 lead in the opening half. McDonald scored the only goal of the opening quarter, finishing off a feed from Spillett with 3:52 left. Longo scored twice in a 26-second span of the second quarter to deliver the Dolphins a 3-0 lead. After Jeremy Jablonski put C.W. Post on the board, Longo tallied his third goal of the quarter to make it 4-1. Spillett capped the first half with goal in the final seconds that delivered Le Moyne a four-goal halftime edge. Spillett scored seven seconds into the second half to key a 5-1 Le Moyne third quarter. McDonald scored twice and Holdridge added two as Le Moyne jumped out to a 10-2 lead after three quarters. Spillett and McDonald added fourth quarter goals before Jablonski’s second goal of the game made it a 12-3 final. Junior Travis Tarr (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) grabbed five ground balls as Le Moyne collected a 39-17 advantage in that statistical category. The Dolphins outshot their visitors 39-25 and won 14-of-19 faceoffs. Junior Jared Corcoran (Concord, N.H./Concord) made six of his nine saves in the opening half. Le Moyne travels to American International for a Northeast-10 Conference contest Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. |
