The Game Story:
Erie, Pa. Ė Sophomore Cameron McLean scored a career-high seven goals and the fifth-ranked Mercyhurst College menís lacrosse team won its sixth-straight game, disposing of East Coast Conference opponent Dominican, 16-4, Saturday afternoon at Tullio Field. With the victory, the Lakers improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

The Victoria, B.C. native single-handedly took over the offense in the first half, netting six of his seven scores to put the Lakers out in front 9-2 heading into halftime. McLean registered four goals in the first quarter before posting two more in the second.

Senior Mike Bartlett and freshman Ian Wild also got in on the action during a 6-1 run through the first while junior Kyle Plante added a goal midway through the second.

Mercyhurst continued to add to its lead in the second half, outscoring the Chargers 7-2. After a goal from junior Michael Dugan that opened the half at 12:13, Dominican tallied twice to make the score 10-4. However, the Lakers would take over the game with the next six goals. Bartlett and Plante added back-to-back markers in the final minute of the third before junior Trevor Rice, McLean, junior Tyler Burton and freshman Eric Hislop rounded out the scoring with goals in the fourth.

Along with his two goals, Bartlett dished out three assists to finish with five points.

All three goalkeepers saw action in the game. Senior Jason LaShomb earned the victory with four saves through the first three quarters. Sophomores Zach Nash and Michael Jeschawitz wrapped up the fourth without facing a shot.

The Lakers held a 48-15 edge in shots and a 29-18 advantage in ground balls. Dominican scored three of its goals on man-up opportunities, converting 3-for-6 in the game. Mercyhurst was 0-for-4, but scored man-down on Burtonís goal late in the fourth.

Mercyhurst continues its two-game homestand with a contest against Grand Canyon on Sunday, April 5, at 1 p.m.
