|NORTH ANDOVER, MA. – The Merrimack men’s lacrosse team, ranked 7th in the latest Lax Power national poll, picked up its third straight win, defeating Franklin Pierce 14-5 Tuesday night at Warrior Field.|
The Warriors scored the game’s first 10 goals and grabbed a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, behind a goal and two assists from freshman Michael Balbuena.
Preseason All-American Greg Rogowski continued his stellar season, scoring three goals, including his 30th of the season, while adding a helper. Goaltender Corey Spinale had a shutout for the first 23:34 and stopped eight shots in a half’s worth of work for his eighth victory. Dennis Rugg added three goals, while Sean Foley and David Robinson eachpicked up their first of the season. Senior netminder Eric Tompkins made 12 saves in the second half in relief of Spinale.
The Warriors (8-2, 5-2 NE-10) visit Pace University on Thursday at 4 p.m. before hosting Saint Michael’s Saturday at 2 p.m. They will host American International next Tuesday at 4 p.m. as part of Senior Night.
