Saint Anselm vs. Bryant
March 23, 2005
The Game Story:
Manchester, N.H. (March 23, 2005)óBryant University, ranked ninth nationally in the USILA Division II Poll, outlasted upset-minded Saint Anselm by a score of 13-8 in a Northeast-10 Conference game at SNHU.

With the win, Bryant improves to 2-1 on the season, 1-0 in NE-10 play. Saint Anselm falls to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in the conference.

Bryant never trailed although the Hawks did no make things easy, cutting an early 4-1 deficit to 7-5 by halftime and 11-8 late at the 5:47 mark of the fourth. Bryant seized momentum 27 seconds later as the Bulldogs scored a goal and were immediately awarded an extra man opportunity following an unsportsmanslike penalty on the Hawks. That penalty led to another Bryant goal as the visitors pulled out the win.

Brent Stoothoff (W. Islip, N.Y.) led the visitors with three goals and one assist while Adam Smith ((Bainbridge Island, Wash.) two goals, three assists) and Andrew Serge ((Albany, N.Y.) two goals, two assists) added help.

Saint Anselm was led by Kevin Allwarden (Amherst, N.H./ Souhegan) who had a goal, three assists and four ground balls. Paul Driscoll (Milton, Mass./ Milton) added three assists. On defense, John Ortolani (Billerica, Mass./ Billerica) and Joe Costello (Lowell, Mass./ Lowell) both had seven ground balls. Andrew Roy (Westford, Mass./ Westford) recorded 12 saves in the losing effort.

Saint Anselm returns to action on April 3 when the Hawks host American International College at 1:00 PM.
