Southern New Hampshire vs. Merrimack

The Game Story:
MANCHESTER, NH Ė The Merrimack College menís lacrosse team improved its record to 7-2 on Saturday, picking up a close 9-8 win over Southern New Hampshire University. Junior Greg Rogowski (Cohoes, NY) scored twice and contributed an assist, while sophomore Cory Spinale (Wakefield, MA) turned aside 17 shots in net.

Just 48 seconds into the contest, sophomore Bryan MacPhie (Scarboro, ME) took advantage of a Penmen slashing penalty to put the Warriors up early, but Southern New Hampshire scored three straight goals, and held of Merrimack long enough to take a 5-4 advantage into the halftime intermission.

Freshman Michael Balbuena (Falmouth, MA) started things off in the second half, and the Warriors went up for good, scoring four of the next five goals.

MacPhie finished the afternoon with two goals, as did senior Reid Eichelberger (Wrentham, MA). Balbuena and sophomore Mark Webber (Mansfield, MA), meanwhile, added one apiece.

Merrimack plays again on Tuesday evening when the team will host Franklin Pierce College at 6:30 p.m.
