Charlotte, N.C. - The Queens Men's Lacrosse Team (7-4, 4-1) moved into a first-place tie in the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 13-9 triumph Wednesday afternoon over 12th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne (7-3, 4-1). Matthew Michael (Easton, Pa.) and Casey Hock (Danville, Calif.) both scored three goals as Queens climbed into a first-place tie in the conference standings with Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba. Senior midfielders Sam Ashton (New Market, Md.) and Imari Davis (San Marcos, Calif.) both scored twice for the Bears, who saw their six-match winning streak come to an end. Queens held a 6-5 advantage early in the second period before taking control with five consecutive goals capped off by a score from Garrett Chan (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada). Queens, who held a 44-33 advantage in shots taken and a 30-26 edge in ground balls, never let Lenoir-Rhyne get within four goals the rest of the way. Queens' goalkeeper, Eric Dolan (Hopkinton, Mass.), picked up the victory after making 16 saves on the day. Ashton added three assists while junior goalkeeper Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) took the loss for the Bears. Lenoir-Rhyne senior Steven McGhee (Durham, N.C.) stopped 10 shots in goal as well. Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road to face Brevard in a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday in Brevard, N.C., beginning at 3:00 p.m. Queens hosts Tusculum in a league match Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
