Desales vs. Drew

The Game Story:
Center Valley, PA (April 25, 2007) Ė Sophomore Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) tallied two goals and added four assists but it was not enough as the DeSales University menís lacrosse team dropped its sixth straight game, 13-7, to Drew University in an MAC Conference game on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

A 5-2 game at the half was broken open in the third period by the Rangers as Drew scored seven times and shutout the Bulldogs in the third quarter to open up a 12-2 lead and never looked back. The loss drops DeSales to 7-8 overall and 2-7 in the MAC, while Drew improves to 7-6 overall and 6-3 in the MAC. Drew held a 39-24 edge in shots and a 54-46 advantage in ground balls. The Rangers also won 17-of-23 face-offs in the win.

Brancaccio now has a team-high 52 points on the year with 24 goals and 28 assists. He is just three assists shy heading into the final game of the season to break the single-season record for assists which stands at 31 and is held by Brian Kuttler.

Sophomore Danny Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus) also played well scoring three goals and tallying one assist. Sophomore Andrew Ervin (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) had one goal and one assist, sophomore Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) had one goal and junior Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) rounded out the scoring leaders with one assist.

Senior Jon-Erik Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) grabbed a team-high seven ground balls and freshman Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) stopped 13 shots in three quarters of action.

The Bulldogs conclude its season on Saturday, April 28th when they host Elizabethtown College for an MAC Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
