The Game Story:
LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team clinched a NESCAC First-Round Tournament game with an 11-4 victory at Bates on Wednesday.

The Polar Bears' (9-4, 6-2 NESCAC) victory, combined with Wesleyan's win over Tufts, earned Bowdoin their first home playoff game since the 2002 season. The Polar Bears will wrap-up their regular season against Trinity on Saturday and will learn their NESCAC first-round opponent later that afternoon. The NESCAC first-round games are slated for Sunday.

Bowdoin opened the scoring on a goal by Vinay Kashyap three minutes into play. Bates tied the score Pete Friedman's unassisted goal, but Ford Barker tallied another for the Polar Bears, who led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter.

The Bobcats picked up their scoring in the second quarter with three goals scored by Justin Simon, Brent Morin and Wes Couture. Bowdoin, however, retained the lead, 5-4, at halftime, with three goals, two of which came from Andy Nelson. The Polar Bears dominated play in the second half, scoring six unanswered goals to go up 11-4 at the start of the fourth quarter.

John Kinnane notched the final goal of the game for the Bobcats, scoring with three minutes left in the fourth quarter to bring the final score to 11-5 in Bowdoin's favor.

Leading the scoring for Bowdoin was Matt Chadwick and Connor Fitzgerald each tallying two goals and an assist. Bates goalie Paul Kazarian finished with 10 saves, while Bowdoin goalie Charlie Legg finished with seven saves.
