Clarkson vs. Geneseo State

The Game Story:
A quick start by 11th-ranked Geneseo State put the Clarkson University Lacrosse team in an early hole and the Golden Knights could never recover as they lost 11-4 at Hantz Field on Saturday afternoon.

Geneseo (4-1) scored three times in the opening five minutes and cruised to a 5-1 lead at the half. Geneseo out scored Clarkson 5-0 in the third quarter before the Knights showed life in the final frame with three goals.

Senior captain Bryan Johnson (Newark, NY) scored two goals for Clarkson, while senior Brian Hanlon (Marcellus, NY) and freshman Cory Reinhart (Albany, NY) tallied one goal apiece.

Geneseo out shot the Knights 35-21, including an 8-2 margin in the opening 15 minutes. Geneseo also controlled groundballs 33-26 and won 14-of-18 faceoffs.

Freshman Eric Wolery (Cincinnati, OH) started in goal for Clarkson and made eight saves on 18 shots through 36 minutes of play. Sophomore Greg Lamb (Baldwinsville, NY) played the final 24 minutes in the Knights’ net and posted seven saves on eight shot.

At 2-4 overall, Clarkson plays at eighth-ranked RIT on Wednesday, April 5 in its next action.
