| (Carlisle, Pa)-- Colin Meagher tied the game with just three seconds
remaining and Dustin Sheriff tallied the game-winner in overtime as
FDU-Madison dealt Dickinson a heartbreaking 13-12 loss here on
Wednesday.
The Red Devils gave a valiant effort, but FDU rallied to erase a 12-9 deficit over the final eight minutes of regulation. Jeremy Angell (Milton, Ma/Fryeburg Academy) scored five second half goals to help give Dickinson a 12-9 advantage with 7:58 remaining. Sheriff cut the lead to two at the 6:32 mark off a pass from Meagher and Brett Starger pulled FDU within one with his fourth goal of the game with only :43 seconds on the clock. Meagher then tied the game with an unassisted goal in the final seconds to send the game into overtime. Angell won the face-off but Dickinson was unable to convert on their opening possession and Sheriff ended the game with 2:18 left on a roll from the left side of the crease. Jack Miner (Wexford, Pa/N. Allegheny) added four goals and an assist for the Red Devils and freshman Dan Murray (Denver, Co/Regis Jesuit) dished out two assists. Freshman goaltender Sean McGowan (Glens Falls, NY/Kimball Union Academy) played outstanding in goal, making 15 saves for Dickinson. The Red Devils head back on the road this weekend, traveling to Goucher on Saturday for a 2:00 face-off with the Gophers. |
